A single point of access to the library’s collections and content-neutral search results were vital requirements to ensure that collections are included and exposed with complete impartiality.
The University of Bergamo which is located in Lombardy, a region in Northern Italy with more than 10 million inhabitants, is a growing State University with about 16,000 students (undergraduates and graduates), and more than 300 PhD students.
I spoke with Ennio Ferrante, Head of Library Services at the University of Bergamo who stressed the importance of access to the wide variety of library resources via a single search to meet the expectations of the users nowadays. “Our users will benefit from the improved visibility of our extensive electronic collections, and their research experience will be enhanced by Primo’s coverage, reliability, and ease of use. With Primo, we know that we can rely on an established product which is widely adopted, fully integrated with our library information system, and provided by a content-neutral partner. In addition, we are looking forward to providing a research environment which is multilingual and accessible from mobile devices.”
We are very pleased to welcome the University of Bergamo to the expanding Primo community in Italy. If you would like to find out more about this project please contact us.
